Heather is an emerging artist who has won many awards for her work. In 2007, she won first prize for a work on paper at the Royal Easter Show. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Master of Arts in Psychology and a Diploma of Education. She has completed courses at the National Art School from 1998 to 2006 as well as studies at the University of Southern Queensland and Charles Sturt University. She has also completed an Advanced Diploma in Fine Arts at the Sydney Gallery School located at Meadowbank TAFE and in 2007, studied printmaking at a fine arts university in Florence, Italy. Heather is a cross-cultural psychologist who has travelled extensively. Collagraphs, etchings, woodcuts, linocuts, lithographs and monoprints all provide Heather with opportunities to create thought provoking and colourful images. Although her favourite medium is printmaking, she also loves painting and drawing. Heather’s work, like all artists, is a reflection of and on her life experiences. Her interest in Indigenous art and culture has reinforced her belief that we are so intimately connected to our planet, that if it is out of balance, so are we. However, Heather is optimistic that the universality of current issues, such as climate change, will lead to solutions for future generations and gives viewers some “food” for thought in her works. Heather’s work has gone to private collectors in France, Hong Kong, NSW, Victoria and Queensland. She also exhibits in Bundeena twice a year. Heather is one of three artists who exhibit in Studio 12 on the first Sunday of every month in the Bundeena/Maianbar Art Trail. |
